Our Story

Who we are

Formed in 2020, All About Whitby is a local, not for profit association of B&B providers in Whitby and the surrounding area. We currently have about 28 members providing accommodation of nearly 200 rooms – and we are continuing to grow.

Our collective aim is to provide visitors with an easy way to find available accommodation whilst maintaining our local priorities and maximising the benefits of tourism for our visitors and our local economy alike. We do not charge our members commissions on bookings and we do not charge our guests to make a booking. You deal directly with your chosen B&B, allowing the individuality and personality of our local businesses to shine through.

For the past couple of years, it always has been a dream to set up a Whitby based website and through the Covid 19 pandemic, we (Michelle & Simon – Corra Lynn) got together with another 3 B&B’s, Alison & Garath – The Lansbury, Simon & Jen – Corner House and Peter & Manetta – Sandpiper House, to form a small local group who could reach out to other accommodation owners and look to do something for our small seaside town and try to proactively help other like minded businesses

Michelle and Simon – Corra Lynn

We came to Whitby in June 2010 for an afternoon and wondered at first how to occupy the full four hours parking that we paid for. We fell in love with the town and came back regularly either for holidays or short weekend breaks. In June 2014 we decided on a complete change of lifestyle and moved our family to this fantastic seaside town and run a B&B.  On taking on our venture, we wanted to offer the standard of service and comfort that we expect when travelling, from the initial booking process; through to well thought out comfortable rooms and of course a fantastic breakfast.

Jenny and Simon – The Corner House

We were working very hard for other people all over the UK. We had both worked in hospitality in the past, Simon more so. In 2014, we decided to raise the deposit for a guest house in Whitby. We were from the area so knew how much hard work was required. So instead of working for someone else, we decided we would do it for ourselves in a place we love.

Alison & Garath – The Lansbury

Moving to Whitby in June 2017, we worked hard to re-establish The Lansbury Guest House as a fully trading B&B. It was our first venture into B&Bs. We sold The Lansbury in May 2022 but continue to support All About Whitby.

Peter & Manetta – Sandpiper House

Manetta and Peter have owned sandpiper house for 17 years.
Manetta is a born and bred Whitby girl and Peters family hail from Whitby, so we have seen Whitby develop from the small seaside town to what it is today
Having lived and worked in the town we didn’t want to leave the area to follow career paths so decided to buy Sandpiper
With over 17 years experience in the tourism industry we have seen Whitby change in many ways, and we are constantly looking at ways to keep Sandpiper up to date with what the customer requires, whilst still offering good old fashioned hospitality.
